Opening Reception: Friday, October 14, 6-9:00 PM

On View: October 14-November 12, 2005

ThreeWalls is proud to present The Great Wide Open by resident artist, Lisa Caccioppoli. In a formal reconsideration of iconography and imagery, Caccioppoli reinvigorates painting’s ability to invoke abstract meaning. Through works that invite the independent experience of viewing art, Caccioppoli suggests the power and possibility of both the art object and its subject matter. These paintings propose neither authorship nor universal experience. The Great Wide Open offers paintings for our scrutiny and our solicitude; their meaning lies in their potential.

Lisa Caccioppoli began her residency on September 4, 2005. She currently lives and works in Chicago. Caccioppoli received her MFA in Painting and Drawing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2002 and earned a BFA from The University of New Mexico in 1998. Her installations, drawings, and paintings have been included in exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including at Akademie der Bildenden Kunst in Munich, Germany, The Suburban in Oak Park, IL, Lothringer Dreizehn in Munich, Germany, The Pond in Chicago, and White Columns in New York. Caccioppoli has forthcoming shows in 2006, including a solo exhibition at Project Row Houses in Houston, Texas.
