There will be free public opening reception for the exhibition at ThreeWalls, 119 North Peoria, Chicago on Friday, March 26 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Using painting and installation to address both personal and shared memory, Bock-Nelson, Mueller, and Sacksteder visually dramatize how remembrance is processed, enculturated and lamented. Jennifer Bock-Nelson's work magnifies fragments of isolated experiences in individual paintings which, when grouped together, comprise a framework for assembling memory. Kelly Mueller's work uses pattern to questions societal conventions such as gender roles, social etiquette, and traditional ceremony. Engaged with childhood artifacts, Sacksteder’s struggle to recreate youthful play tempered by an adult’s lived experience explores that loss of innocence.
